I think that the B&F style is in fact an "intro" style, as directed by Steve/Bob etc, with variations according to the specific designer used.It does not hide the fact that it is produced today with the powerful technical effects available via photoshop, illustrator, quark etc. Even when trying to hide todays software through some lo-fi/analogue effects on the photocopier it is very "now".

But I wonder about the new BAF release. I think a new illustrator has been used - namely Ski Williams (aka the last beatnik of Camden) whose cover for MidWest Funk on Jazzman is definitely not in the "screaming design" department.
