Let's see if this works here.

One of my latest purchases was a mint vinyl copy of.....

Kingstonians - Sufferer (Attack)

...and that album is great from start to finish imo.

What's the latest album that impressed you lately?

Can't really name one, I've gotten so many records during the last 3 months or so, I'm still discovering them... But I'll go with the Pressure Sounds' Sly & Robbie comp. for now (just put it on TT).

One love,

Lloyd Brown and Peter Hunningale, Toe 2 Toe.

The Peter Hunningale tracks are the best tunes I have heard in years if not ever. I skip right over the Lloyd Brown tracks. Moody Blues cover? next. Nights in White Satin? next.

That's a lovely one indeed TR-808. I have a copy on Trojan if I'm not mistaken.

OK, I've got another nominee too! :-)

The Wailers - Tribute To Carly Barrett (Atra)

Lovely dub album in memory of Carly Barrett. It mainly contains dubs to Horace Andy's and Wayne Jarrett's "Earth Must Be Hell" album.

(For clarification, this album has nothing to do with Bob Marley's music, but with the band the Wailers, and the Barrett brothers in the main, who backed more albums than just the Marley ones).

I've been enjoying the recent Heptones CD "Deep In The Roots" on Heartbeat.

A must have if you're a fan of vocal trios.

What's the name of the Joe Higg's box set, zoki? Is this a home-made compilation or has it been released by a label?

zoki, you are too kind and that would be much appreciated. Yes, he resides at the same address at this time.

PS - this whole switching from board to board thing is definitely going to confuse me into forgetting where posts are so I will need to take time and decide whether I will side with the north or the south.

Cheers again, zoki and to Hot Milk as the original provider.

The south is place I never ventured to, however I have touched the northern point several times.

Toby is a cool cat.

I love Joe Higgs music. I honestly don't know if I have listened to the whole thing. For some reason, it doesn't stand out to me. I'll have to dig it out and give it a listen.

just some of my top choices from that list

Higgs & Wilson "Your Love is Not For Me" (called "Love Not For Me" above)

Joe Higgs "Burning Fire"

Joe Higgs "More Slavery" -- interesting story on this tune: if you listen to the tune, it will remind you very much of... well the story is that Jack Ruby had arranged everything to cut a next Burning Spear tune, and that means ARRANGED everything -- the tune (instrumentation), lyrics.. all of it. but for some reason Spear didn't reach to cut the vocal, and Joe happened to be either there or closely available, so he did it. so if it sounds like Joe is getting his Spear on in that tune, it's because he is.

Joe Higgs "Creation"

thanks for the credit, zoki. not necessary, for sure, but thanks just the same. i think the higgs set came off rather nice, glad it's making rounds.

for me, diggin the roland alphonso tribute set on heartbeat today. haven't pulled it out in a long time, great sounds.

and the one that keeps getting the rewind lately, "my thoughts", a studio one sumting by the gladiators. such a wonderful tune.

(wow, now i'm posting on this board....new worlds opening their arms....assuming worlds had arms.....ok)
