info on Moodie

Can anyone tell me anything about this cat? I think he's from the UK (Not Harry Mudie) I'm not sure much more about who he worked with, etc.

How about Dennis Bovell?

Producer & DJ Moodie is from JA originally but has lived in London for many years, he's got a catalogue of self produced albums and singles. His best tune IMO was "Money Money," a roots steppers dating from about 1980 & credited to a singer called Donald Duffus - Moodie himself also did a DJ cut called "Dunny Dunny." He did a few tunes with Errol Dunkley but I'm not aware of any work with Dennis Bovell. Recently he's done a couple of tunes for Reggae On Top label produced by Barry Issac.....

I have an LP of his called Early Years, I quite like it. DJ tunes from the mid 70s.

In the early 80's I picked up 'HILL & GULLY', a Johnny Osbourne 12" (Moodies US), thinking it was a Harry Mudie production. It was musically disappointing. Gimme the Moodisc man anyday!

he did have a website www.moodiesmusic.co.uk but it seems to be offline at the moment. Also I've just remembered the "money Money" tune mentioned above was released first on 12" & credited to a singer called Al Wayne but when reissued on Moodies own label 7" it was credited to one Donald Duffus so it's anyone's guess who the singer really is.....

OK BMC, and your friend GIAB aka Girl In A Band, you win big man. I see why Grumpy quit the board and I'm off now too. I got better things to do than posting smileys. Whatever happened to Mehmet?

One love,

I very love this three from Moodie 7"s:
1. Moodie & Errol Dunkley - Repatriation
2. Donald Duffus - Going To Africa
3. Moodie - Untouchable

You can listen some soundclips from Moodie 7"s here:
