Jah Cure's tune "Jamaica"

In my opinion, one of the best singing tunes of the past few years. Maybe the best song about Jamaica ever recorded.

The Jah Cure though definatly takes the riddim.I was listening to Mighty Mike on IRIE FM an he was sayin how can a man write such a powerful song about his country from JAIL!?He then said enough was enough please Mr. Prime Minister let the man free!

thats his side.

every story has two sides...wheres the gals side.

oh thats right, the jury heard them both and made a decision.

im not saying a jury is always right but pretty soon someone is going to chime in that scott peterson was framed, and im sure he will agree with you.

"im not saying a jury is always right but pretty soon someone is going to chime in that scott peterson was framed, and im sure he will agree with you."

People already have. Apparantly his lawyer has started a collection, asking for donations to pay for private investigators to find the "real killer."
I don't know whether he did it or not, but I think the media arranged for him to be tried and sentenced in the court of public opinion long before the jury made up their minds, and that in my mind is a very bad thing . . .

There are extenuating circumstances...the girl is daughter of a local politician, his original lawyer barely gave a defense, he was 17 at the time, etc. Doesn't mean he didn't do it still...

Wicked singer either way.

yeah fish, the "real killer"...that must have been the same guy oj simpson was looking for. and robert blake too. this guy really gets around.

anyway back to jah cure, my only point was, just because hes famous and/or a good singer, doesnt mean he should be released. if hes got legit issues then maybe he can be retried, thats beyond the "reggae community" to decide. personally i hope he didnt do it and the gal is exaggerating the situation, but i wasnt there so i couldnt say...all i have to go on is the same everyone but he and the gal have to go on; what came out in the trial. i dont have any answers, i just wonder how someone would feel if they were raped and the rapist got away with it just because they were famous. on the other hand, that seems to happen pretty much every day, and like with michael jackson there is the slightest glimmer of possibility that he is innocent and is being preyed upon by golddiggers.
i wouldnt want to be in that position i dont think.

"Free Jah Cure"....the song "Jamaica" is the best song for the country...Jah Cure is releasing the purest music in jamaica inculding I-Wayne,Turbulence and many more...He should be freed from jail because Babylon can't oppress him for his rest of his life....His song "longing for" says all...

I like that riddim a lot, some nice tune by several unknown(to me) artist. The Luddy tune is still my favorite.

"Catch mi inna mi bungalow with my empress
smokin' weed and just chillin'
Catch mi inna mi bungalow with my empress
while the rivers are flowin"

Yea I have the riddim in its entirety and it is real nice.

Jahmeek I dont think Cure was ever released. I know Bushman was caught with a gun a couple years back, not sure if that's where the confusion lies. Cure does voice tunes and dubplates while being incarcerated, not sure exactly how they work it....

#2 South Africa 0.496008 per 1,000 people
#3 Jamaica 0.324196 per 1,000 people

...but it ranks only #6 in the incidence of rape....

This discussion again. Again, I'm reminded that yes there are records by this singer I like(amongst a number his 'Hanging Slowly' on Harmony House); if I re-read that
very compelling interview w/ his accuser YEARS after the incident, I cringe.

Bottom line: NO ONE on this board really know if he guilty or innnocent. I'm not
going to stand and claim to know either way, but it makes me uncomfortable to
see how easily some on this board wanna give him a pass. As far as the woman's
connections regarding her father & the cops, why necessarily assume they would
want to convict the wrong person? If that's the case, what's the motivation----Cure hasn't claimed it was over partisan politricks, Jamaican stylee... I admit to being influenced by this woman's testimony and what she's maintained over the years. How the hell do you call it??? His jury said Guilty.

JF, and again I ask: WHAT YUH KNOW THE JURY DON'T???
Uh,DID You say you live in yard and acquainted w/ all those involved,
have witnessed facts and have first-hand knowledge that say he's not guilty?

And what is this s*** about, 'it might happen to ya guys' ?!?
That assumes you KNOW what happened. You don't. Or do you just mean
'you guys might get caught raping someone?' Is rape something you condone?

Where I live and walk, one of the things wicked men do is rape women.
If my son get in a fight with a man and kill him, that would be
a tragedy but it would not necessarily mean my son was wicked,
but if he rape a woman? A shame I could not forgive.

I prefer the richie spice tune on the sunshine riddim - although the jah cure is also good.
Re: Jah Cure's tune "Jamaica"

I think his singing's pretty good, but most of the time he doesn't really cut it for me lyricially. I liked Longing For, I liked reflections (but he didn't write that one). For the most part, imho, his lyrics seem to get pretty repetitive fast. Peace
