Dawn will be performing a pure '60s revival set of Rocksteady and Early Reggae.

Hear Dawn perform her classic hits from back in the day with legendary producers such as Bunny Lee, Duke Reid, Prince Buster, Boris Gardiner and of course her smash hit for Sir Coxson, the Studio One anthem "You Don't Love Me (No, No, No)" !!

Dawn Penn will be backed by the Bay Area's traditional Ska and Rocksteady outfit Franco Nero. Franco Nero will also open the show with a set of their own original compositions featuring the vocal stylings of Rashida Clendening aka "Audio Angel"

Coming to Santa Rosa for that weekend, really considering making the drive to the bay for this show. Sounds like an awesome show.

Ya, how many chances do you get to see a legend like Dawn Penn! Its just my grandma is getting married the next day at a winery in Healdsburg so it is a bit of a drive but that doesnt usually stop me. Will there be plenty of tickets at the door? Or do I need to pick up some before i drive from Bend, OR to Oakland?? I would only be coming into the bay for the show, otherwise if i dont come to the show i will drive right into Santa Rosa. i would also like to come to link up with Maitreya, Carl and Daniel!

The venue holds up to 600 people we are hoping to do at least half of that maybe a little more. There will be no problem getting tickets at the door the night of the show but if you want to play it safe tickets are now available online at the venue's website.

yes Dawn Penn is INDEED a heavyweight Jamaican Rocksteady LEGEND!!! (contrary to posts I have read from people on this forum in the past smh).

Congratulations to your Grandma as well, Tyler. Hope to see you at the show!

Man, I am sooo tempted to fly in for this show -- it is rare that you see a rocksteady showcase like this anymore. The time to see performers from the Golden Age of reggae music is soon closing, with all of those artistes fast approaching the twilight of their years (many have already passed on to Zion).

Give thanks Walter. This show will be as close to 1967-68 as you can get in this day and age. The backing band (Franco Nero) is a great group of Ska/Rocksteady traditionalists that also have a Jazz background. Couldn't be a better matched backing band for Dawn Penn voice/selections in the local Bay area. This promises to be a Rocksteady lover's dream show I assure you. If you can make it you are in for a real treat. Hope to see you there!

Great show and impressive turnout last night, Ms Penn was crystal clear! Big ups to the SF Vintage Reggae Society for making it happen!

Quality show, video clips soon come. Only negative was the staff member who would only let one smoke tobacco in the outdoor smoking area. WTF!

We had no problems in that department.
But, selective enforcemement is big pet peeve of mine, so I do sympathize.
I thought the staff was pretty friendly. My 1st time @ the venue....

My first time too. Staff was very friendly, the guy said, unless thats tobacco in your pipe you can't smoke it here. Place was pretty empty then so maybe later it woulda worked better. Hard to believe they want you to step out front and brave the mean streets of oakland when they have an outdoor area. Nice venue tho.
