Hmmm. Sad. And here's the wierd thing: I am in the process of building/modding some vintage Stephens Trusonic speakers with incredible bullet tweeters that have neat old "brilliance" adjustment l-pads. I mean these old tweets can sing. Especially for jazz horns, classical and acoustic music.

But, I like everything, so what did I reach out for yesterday and put on for the first time in probably 30 years to test the far reaches of treble? Ten Years After. At Woodstock. Live.

Treble? Check. Loud? Check. Treble attenuation? Double check.

Alvin Lee,fantastic ripping guitarist and singer of Ten Years After,passed away at aged 68 very sadly today.According to his website,he died from unforeseen complications following a routine surgical procedure.

Ten Years After toured the U.S. twenty-eight times in seven years more than any other UK band.

Mr.Lee was a huge influence on this Los Angeles guitarist Dale as a youth !!

Incomparable. Ten Years After was my music of choice. Every blues and rock guitarist alive today owes this man a thank you for the years of spreading the guitar gospel.

I wish this video showed his performance - he was totally into his playing at Woodstock.

I saw Alvin Lee and Ten Years After supporting the Simon Dupree Sound at a concert that took place in the University of Westminster, Great Portland Street, London in 1968. Ten Years After were the loudest group I had ever heard and I was transfixed by Lee's guitar playing. He was even more amazing at this show than he was at Woodstock. RIP.

I have memories of TYA with records like Stonedhenge, Ssssh..., Cricklewood Green & Watt. The late 60's/early 70's was a great period of music for me. Listening to TYA, Jethro Tull, Savoy Brown & John Mayall ... nice.
I saw TYA with Roxy Music & Wild Turkey Dec, 1972 @ the Hollywood Palladium. All 3 bands ~ killer. Pretty smokey inside the Palladium that night.

Undead remained the quintessential TYA fix for me, first heard in '68, if I recall.

Of all his recordings, it always came off the most straight-up Brit-club-blues recording, & hearing Alvin Lee sing old Jimmy Rushing lyrics, or his steeple-chase manic take on Woody Herman's 'Woodchopper's Ball' always brought a smile to my face.

I also briefly met him while sitting in a dressing room in '72---as the headliner that night, he came off a gracious and good-natured gent. R.I.P.
