There's a new festival on the banks of the Eel River July 19-21, Northern Nights Music Festival, at Cooks Valley Campground.

Check out their super hot video trailer:

Also, the Dimmick Ranch has been sold to 4 guys out of the Bay Area: Ben Bleiman, Duncan Lay, John Hanley, Mark DiVito. These are the same people putting on the Northern Nights Music Festival.

Selling price: $1,400,000.00
Liens on property: $3,334,294.44
Liens they are claiming as invalid: $2,184,294.44

Check the 44cents.

I imagine things will be getting pretty interesting on the banks of the Eel River next year as the competition mounts against the Mateel Community Center's Reggae on the River and Northern Nights Music Festival a three day Electronica festival.

Protect the Eel River. Do they have permits for this fest? I think 1 big festival is all that section of river can handle per year responsibly after a fairly dry Winter. There goes the neighborhood. Nice post, yeah, should get pretty interesting. ROTR this year!!!! EDM is going crazy, it could turn into a big thing in the future, kind of late for this year but???? Dimmick really dropped the ball on his opportunity up there huh? 7,000 $200 tickets is $1.4m

A check with the Mendocino planning commission turned up a permit application meeting for the festival to be held on May 17.
No. At this time there is not a permit.
What is EDM?
Cook's Valley had a 5K person maximum granted when Reggae Rising was happening. It wasn't that high a number for the more recent shows.

haha, EDM is Electronic Dance Music or the newer term for House music, it looks like that is what this fest is about but not sure. Protect the Eel River. EDM is going crazy, there are some popular DJ's that sell out the LA Coliseum now a days.

I don't really see this as Competition for ROTR...esp. if its an EDM/Electronic Music festival. To me it seems like its more of a sign that things and times are changing maybe...

EDM is not just house music, it's for all types of electronic music including house, trance, drum and bass, dub step, glitch hop, etc. just like under Reggae Music you will find roots, dancehall, and ska.

Maybe there will be less dub steppers at reggae on the river becasue of this. Although, I do agree two festivals on the river aren't very good for the river and things that live in it.
