Re: Next year artists

It's been said before, but one of these days we'll have to see Conscious Sounds make its US debut. King General, Mike Brooks, Sandeeno (recently learned he was the Superman half of Superman and Spiderman), and Diggory Kenrick are a few top artists that would be a solid foundation for a Conscious Sounds showcase. I'm not even a huge fan of the modern UK digi scene—I just bet these guys would tear down the Saturday night dancehall.

Also it'd be magnificent, if unlikely, to see the ever elusive Pablo Gad. One of the very best reggae singers.

Carlton Livingston ranks high in my book and still has plenty of vibes judging from his recent output.

Oh yeah, Vivian Jones too! A wicked singer who's been dropping some excellent tunes of late.

I would love to catch Milton Henry as well. His recent "Let Go the Ego" is one of the very best new productions I've heard, and it's great to see that Wackies studio is opening its doors again. His upcoming showcase album with Roberto Sanchez is one of my most anticipated releases. Truncated version of Let Go the Ego 12":

Finally—and perhaps least likely—Mr. Spaulding! The man is a warrior behind the mike. Something about the way he hits high notes is like a laserbeam to my head. He has plans to record new material soon in Sweden and maybe he can be convinced to nice up some shows too.

Then, of course, it would be great to try for U-Roy and Max Romeo again. I hope U-Roy recovers soon; I would be pretty sad never to see such a giant of the DJ trade.

I know he is a producer and not an artist per se...but he was such a huge force and influence in Jamaican music.

If he simply brought a stack of vinyl of his major productions and just dropped the needle on the record it would be epic for me.

Chunes like:

Move Outta Babylon and None Shall Escape....Johnny Clarke
Natty Bongo...Owen Gray
Duke of Earl..Cornel Campbell
and on and on...so many great hits

Bring on the Flying Cymbals...One more time!

I kept returning to this post and seeing many great names mentioned! Again I wanna offer a couple more deserving artists that would rock either stage at next year's SNWMF:

Ossie Dellimore
The Resonators
Alika & Nueva Alianza
Tippa Irie
O-Shen
Emeterians
Rocky Dawuni
Los Cafres
Kultiration
Zema

And last but not least, my long shot suggestion is some brethren that I know personally 4 Piece Band from Guam. Check out their vibes on Soundcloud & YouTube with album and Hawaii tour soon come! [youtu.be]

Jah Bless the Jobless!!

P.S. For all those who championed Ooklah the Moc, check out lead singer Kali Navales solo effort Showcase Inna Different Style released earlier this year! Easily one of my favorites of the year so far! And big ups to Ras Danny, yes we need to see more strong female artists on stage!

Super Cat basically doesn't perform anymore..

As for Shabba, he still performs, and even did a fest in LA in 08. But the norcal fest circuit probably isn't his biggest fanbase (although I think Shabba puts on an excellent show personally)

General Tree (swear he'd knock people out)
Peter Metro(same as Trees)
Carlton Livingston
Daddy Roy
Manu Chao
Paragon Reunion/John Holt

And finally this: ROOTS RADICS RUB A DUB SET: Flabba/Style/Dwight laying down 80s grooves with any of the following:
Little John/Jah Thomas/Josey Wales/Charlie Chaplin/Leroy Smart/Meditations(!)

All above for consideration....

Shabba Ranks has been on some florida line-ups...Charlie Chaplin would be great, so would Burro Banton....Manu Chao would be great but are they possible, are they within the SNWMF budget? Will they play a NORCAL reggae fest? How about a reggaeton artist, or pre-reggaeton artist like EL GENERAL. How come Chukki Starr never comes around? Is he a JA artist or UK? Now for my main pick...

I saw Mavado a few years ago @ Rebel Salute in JA. I was not sure ahead of time if he would be my "cup of tea", but at about 3 in the morning he rocked the crowd & I loved it. Mavado & the band sounded great. I think he would fit in @ SNWMF.

February 1st is coming up fast.
Start of the 2014 line up.
I hope to see on the lineup maybe Black Slate or John Holt or the Tamlins or Mr.Cocoa Tea. All four would be irie.
It always seems like February 1st is some kind of special holiday ~ you know what I mean?.............grinning smiley.

Any quality DJ (or even better DJ's) on a competent sound in the dancehall or on one of the stages. It is very surprising that acts like this have very rarely been scheduled at SNWMF. The only ones that I can remember were Briggy, Judah Eskender Tafari, and Sabbatical Ahdah. I think it would be very well received by the SNWMF massive.
