Is it too much to ask The Jamaica Gleaner to have good reporting about reggae? These articles are written like a Middle School newspaper.

pretty much always been the case. people who are more passionate and knowledgeable about reggae
are not the ones working the entertainment desk in JA papers. our local news had a great music writer who was killed bike riding and they replaced him with a sports writer tool who knew nada about good music. so frustrating.

Middle school ? You are too kind.

In light of recent year events, the whole scene has been taken over by pre schoolers.

Especially artists who don't understand terms and schedule dates of contracts they sign. Or is it 'x ?'

Jamaica is a culture of the hustle. That extends to everything from music to journalism to politics. Stick with the Brits if you want deep, intellectual analysis of reggae or anything else.

Let's just say The Jamaican Gleaner has never been particularly insightful, much less prescient when it came to the island's music...
