Posse, Are You Ready? - 1979-1985 rub-a-dub mix

Posse, Are You Ready? (Vol. I) - a 1979 - 1985 rub-a-dub mix by BMC

Been over 3 years since my last mix on 70s/80s reggae, so about time to drop something new again! Here is:

Posse, Are You Ready?

A mix focussing on what is probably my favourite era of Jamaican music: 1979 - 1985. One hour of pure rub-a-dub niceness. In this first volume (hopefully more to follow!) there's tunes by a whole variety of singers and deejays and no vocalist appears twice. All tracks are taken from vinyl, so expect some crackle and pop here and there. Mix in the usual BMC style: no full tunes, one continuous mix with some added soundsamples, sources of each track given. Check it out and try not to move to this, it wont work!

Drop me a comment if you enjoy the works. If there's enough interest, I'll probably drop a Vol. II and maybe even III soon.

Posse, Are You Ready? - Vol. I

Reggae music nice every time.

Thanks RasA, sfco2000 and bigvein! Nice one.

Yes bigvein, I was playing that Ranking Dread a little while ago and for the first time it hit me that I knew I had that Pat Kelly tune somewhere, since I played it a few days before. Never realized it 'til then, so when that sweet combination was complete I had to include it in this mix. Love it. cool smiley

Been a huge fan of your old-school rub-a-dub mixes for years. Your Nicodemus, Papa Tullo, and Purpleman mixes are always in heavy rotation around here, but your Toyan showcase from "How the West Was Won" is an all-time favorite!

Looking forward to digging into this next mix.

Much appreciation!

Late august this year I dropped my first rub-a-dub mix in a long time: "Posse, Are You Ready? Vol. I". And because of all the positive response: here is Volume II (Part twowowowowo! as the man Jah Thomas says)! Same recipe as Vol. I: early 80s tunes by a whole variety of singers and deejays and no vocalist appears twice, all tracks taken from vinyl, so expect some crackle and pop here and there. Mix in the usual BMC style: no full tunes, one continuous 60 min. mix with some added soundsamples.

Unlike last time, no tracklist and downloads yet. I figured it would be fun (and interesting for me for various reasons) for those interested to listen to the mix first and see if you all can identify the tunes in it. Definitely not a too hard task, I'm not of the 'must be rare to be included' kind. Most shouldn't be too hard to recognize I think, but we'll see. Fun to do I think. In the next couple of days I'll post the tracklist with sources for each track and probably create some sort of download option in higher quality than this streaming quality of SoundCloud.

And who knows, nuff tunes left, so a Vol. III might even appear in 2015....... Have a rub-a-dub Christmas and New Year all! smiling smiley

Let me know if you enjoy the tunes and/or can id some. That's what makes it nice to share these mixes. winking smiley

Yo BMC, I seem to remember a while back you said something to the affect that you weren't getting enough response to your mixes and that's partly why you slowed down with them. Well i should have taken the time then to say your mixes are some of the tip top very best! I've been taking them with me on my travels all ova the land, playing them for the masses wherever I can and let me tell you the response is always a place full of grooving souls, reggae heads or not. So I make sure to direct them to bettermustcome.blogspot.org and sometime to this forum. I can't wait to download this one as I'm sure it will impress. Big up yaself BMC! BOOM!

yes.. its very obvious BMC takes the time to place these tunes in the right order. some just throw tunes at a mix.. BMC seems to put his tunes together according to mood or tempo.

Posse, Are You Ready? Vol. III - a 1979 - 1985 rub-a-dub mix by BMC

Yes people, BMC Taking Over one more time! Here's the third and final volume of my short but sweet series of rub-a-dub mixes called "Posse, Are You Ready?". Wont be uploading next new mixes anymore after this one anytime soon (not in this series or otherwise), don't really enjoy it as much as I did anymore for a variety of reasons (wont bother you all with it here), so hopefully you'll agree it's nice enough to end with for now. This one will be Mixcloud only (for reasons I wont bother mentioning either) and perfectly suits the summer months ahead of us, together with Vol. I and II, also still available from my Mixcloud page. If you want more, take Johnny Osbourne's advise on the last track of this mix: if you happy and you love it, rewind! :-)

Same recipe as Vol. I & II: early 80s tunes by a whole variety of singers and deejays and no vocalist appears twice, all tracks taken from vinyl, so expect some crackle and pop here and there. Mix in the usual BMC style: no full tunes, one continuous 60 min. mix with some added soundsamples. Feel good music. Enjoy!

Posse, Are You Ready? Vol. IV - a 1979 - 1985 rub-a-dub mix by BMC

The return of the Posse, Are You Ready? series is here! Presented the third and 'final' volume about a year and a half ago, not really feeling the motivation to continue making these kind of mixes anymore for a variety of reasons. The last couple of weeks however I played back all three volumes of Posse, Are You Ready? and loved 'm. That, in combination with some lovely new tunes in, brought back the motivation to make a Vol. IV, for my own enjoyment and the interested listeners out there. A lengthy break was needed apparentely. We'll see where it goes from here.
Recipe is the same as for Vol. I - III: rub-a-dub tunes by a whole variety of singers and deejays and no vocalist appears twice, all tracks taken from vinyl, so expect some crackle and pop here and there (plus a skip in one of the tracks this time, oops, can you find it?). Mix in the usual BMC style: no full tunes, one continuous 60 min. mix with some added soundsamples. Mixcloud only. So, Posse, Are You Ready for Vol. IV???

Posse, Are You Ready? - Vol. IV

Your earlier mixes that I was able to download still get a lot of spin even after all these years. Huge thanks!
