"Branches of the Same Tree," Rocky Dawuni
"The Cure," Jah Cure
"Acousticalevy," Barrington Levy
"Zion Awake," Luciano
"Strictly Roots," Morgan Heritage

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that this year's winner is NOT a Marley.....

No way Jah Cure wins..

It's going to come down to Morgan Heritage and Luciano.. With Morgan Heritage winning out..

But then again, the Grammys is just a RIAA PR front disguised as an awards event.

In other categories, Native North America Vol. 1 from Light In The Attic Records is nominated for Best Historical Album...curated & compiled by my good bredrin Kevin "Sipreano" Howes who also put out the excellent Jamaica To Toronto series of releases in the early 2000's!

Pashon Minott blasts Morgan Heritage lead singer after Grammy win

Though Morgan Heritage members are in a jubilant mood after winning the Grammy for Best Reggae Album, the group’s lead singer Peetah Morgan has come under fire for being a “bad dad.”

Mother of two of Morgan’s children Pashon Minott who is also the daughter of late reggae singer, Sugar Minott, took to social media to lament on the lack of support she suffers from Morgan.

She left her scathing remarks under the STAR’s congratulatory post on Instagram.

“Congrats to you #MorganHeritage! Job well done! You're great singers who work hard and no one can deny that. Now please talk some sense into your lead singer#PeetahMorgan in being a father to his daughters Destiny and Journey who have not seen him in 9 yrs. Like I said before, he doesn't know how they eat or if they are still alive. #Congrats#Grammys #StrictlyRoots#AwsomeSinger #BadDad #Bye#FreedomOfSpeech #DoneChat,” she wrote.

ANTI CHRIST (by Yabby You - RIP Rock in Paradise)

Them say them love and them live in hate
Them say no steal and them thief your head
Them say no lust and them live like a whore
me never hear such a thing before

See them there ... them favor sheep but them a wolf
See them there ... them favor Christ but them an Anti-Christ

Man shall be like a tree that is planted by the riverside
by their fruits you shall see
a macka tree can not bear no fruit

Respect to Morgan Heritage.

But has anyone listened to the album?

I personally have not - too many other new ones have came out.

The album is exceptional to be honest with you. Was a big surprise to me as I don't normally buy into their sound. Really nice tunes, rootikal too.

IMHO the award should have gone to Barrington. His vocal performance on AcousticaLevy was truly unreal when you consider his age and how long he's been at it. Takes nerve to do an acoustic album where its just your voice and a light guitar. No way to mask it or vocode it. That was probably his first and last best shot at getting the award and he was so over the top just to find that he had been nominated.

Can't take nothing away from Morgan though, album is strong.

The no nod for Protoje's album this year was an oversight that is simply stunning to me. I don't know how that album could not have been in the mix. Best reggae album of the year hands down in my opinion.

In Morgan Heritage, you are talking about one of the most talented set of musicians in the reggae industry right now. They can do just about any genre of music outside of reggae. The album is strong and having been involved in it's production and witness to it's development from rough mix to finished product, it really came along as a complete album.

Regarding Pashon, I can only say that there's more than one story there. As Peter said, she knows how to get in touch with him. Don't believe everything you read and don't be quick to be the crab in the bucket. Many artists have their issues, but in this case know the facts before you say anything.
