I now understand what some say about the diluting of the reggae sound. I hear some Jamaicans scream about this all the time, you know white American acts watering down the true, authentic reggae sound. I get it now after watching a bunch of these bands do their surf-rock-reggae act. I'm not a fan. Maybe its a good thing for reggae. Maybe this music exposes the uninitiated to a "palatable" reggae sound, however, it does nothing for me personally. Most of it comes off as weak, uninspired songs about how cool it is to smoke weed and grow dreads. Not one of these bands will attempt to convey any sort of history about the music or movement or way of life that is Rastafari in the way that say Groundation does. And maybe that is a good thing.

Watered down reggae is best viewed via live stream. That way the ones can happily wade between the "rocks and the roots."

Alborosie and Protoje sounded great on my home base sound system (I just rebuilt my 18" sub!). And as always, the beer is cheap and the seats are comfortable.
