hi pat

the France-based Makasound label recently issued a CD of two 1970s records from the Mighty Three vocal harmony group... the CD is actually the vocal LP and it's dub counterpart.

the "dubs" sounds more like "versions" than dub workouts -- meaning there is not a radical reworking of the tracks, closer to instrumentals with vocal drops and a small lick of effect here and there.

that said, this material is as hard and heavyweight as it gets... and until this CD it was as rare as it was sought after by the most steadfast of collectors.

Solid, is the Louie Culture album a completely new set of tunes? I think a compilation of his best singles is badly, badly needed . . .

mmmm, i know a lot of them are fresh but i guess i can't say for sure how recent all of them were recorded.

you're right though.. along with Admiral Tibet one of the more overlooked and undervalued talents over the last decade plus.

i like the marmalade riddim album on greensleeves quite a bit...but i always check for pum pum tune.

the latest Jackie Mittoo Tribute album, impressions and improvisations is top a top for the roots tip.
