early Steel Pulse like Handsworth Revolution is some of the best reggae you will find. I get a litle turned off by the light pop sound that have brought the last few years...... they have a song called Taxi Driver which sums up what i feel - not the strongest material from the Pulse. (they are singing about not being picked up in a cab....but they are so damn happy sounding about it)
they have played Sierra Nevada a few years and it seems like every year the big crowd goes to Steel Pulse and at the same time some lesser known roots band is tearing it up on the small stage with a smaller crowd....for that reason i love steel pulse.
I'm in the minority as usual i guess....and you have to make a living ......i just wish they would bring a little more edge into their music.
