Memories of Peter Levi
January 04, 2006 01:52PM
A house owned by West Indians somewhere near the Romford Road down Forest Gate in the latter 1970s. Wazir and the King Original sound at the decks playing the new Heptones tune 'Sufferers Time'. Peter Levi as a teenager turning from skinhead to dread...

A party with Silver Camel sound a few weeks later. Peter Levi surrounded by the dreads: Huggy, Pretty Bwoy Patrick, Duke, Freddy Cat and that white girl who ended up marrying Ras Elroy from Black Slate (they're still together).

An Observer Station session at Springfield Park in the mid 1990s. Josiah, Leroy, Brenton and other Hackney idren meet up the Stokie squatters camp with Nick, Dom, Bob, Big Dave and others for a reasoning of Ras music. Peter Levi is in the mix.

A Tighten Up gig last year. Peter Levi and his wife Kelly arrive from America and stand among Tim P, Mistah Brown, Bilko and the Shoreditch massive.
