Damian Marley shows: what are they like?
January 13, 2006 07:26AM
Hey people,

Damian Marley is booked to do two shows in Amsterdam's best venue Paradiso in march (booked as Damian Marley & The Empire). I already got my tickets, but was wondering what his shows are like and since he seems to perform on your part of the world more often than here this seems the place to ask. I guess (hope) it doesn't have the focus on him being Bob Marley's son with plenty of covers and all that, right? Is the band tight? Music as diverse as his tunes are (ie. dancehall, roots and hiphop-crossover style)? Anyway, that type of info.

Thanks!

Should be a very good show BMC...I saw him in November and was impressed with his confidence and stage presence. It was the first sold out indoor reggae show I've been to (in a 1000 person capacity hall) and Jr. Gong mashed up the place! It even made the local newspaper as one of the best concerts of the year, in all genres. Pretty cool too, because it was the same venue Bob played when he came to my city in the 70's. He did do a medley of Bob covers mid-show, other than that it was all originals though (opening with the wicked More Justice). Band was on the mark so far as I remember.

Somewhat short, but professional and tight. Worth the show at least once. If you don't mind the same set every time, then go more than once.

Nice one, people! Very informative! Looking forward to the gig.

A nice month then, 'cause about three weeks later Turbulence, Lutan Fyah and Chezidek will perform here as well!

Damian shows are ites, but very short.
In eugene a couple of months ago, the set was about an hr.
I'm used to bands playing for 2-3 hrs.
I would think over all ...Turbulence will be irie and Lutan Fyah!!!
Good things to look 4-ward too.

The same line up of Turbulence, Lutan Fyah and Chezidek has performed here last august too on a festival and Turbulence and Lutan Fyah were great. Chezidek was kinda dissappointing, but hopefully he can make up for that indoor this time.
It was also great to catch Turbulence on his own instead of as the support act of Sizzla when I saw him a year or 4 ago.
