I was going to not post here in protest of Zoki's vulgar pics, but the other thread was getting too long and I had meant to start a new one. Anyway, today is my birthday. smiling smiley

And this one's for you Jah Bill:

"Back talk: Georgetown University law school students turn their backs on U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales as he defends President Bush's domestic spying program in Washington. The students held a banner reading: 'Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.' "

Daniel, of course you are entitled to delete whatever you think its proper to be deleted, but whats the point of erasing the picture of black couple dancing?
The couple was fully dressed and nothing vulgar was inthere...

Is it simply because Acacia thinks its vulgar?

Daniel, the people are diferrent, same as their tastes. For instance, that first pic of her (the lake scenery) is pure kitch, if you asked me...

And as for the second shot: personally, I dont like pics of little kids anywhere ecept in family albums. That what you're doing is PC at its worst, my dear Daniel.

Re: day in pictures #3

Zoki. I am a prude. I was tempted to delete that picture you referred to the first time I saw it, because I thought it was vulger but didn't do so because I figured it might be just my prudishness. Acacia's post merely convinced me to follow through with my original feeling.

I'm sure you are well aware that if it has to do with sex or drugs, it's just not appropriate here. If by 'kitch' you mean trash, then certainly the car photos above are that too (as are many of the posts on this forum that don't include photos). But I only delete the 'kitch' that is sexually explicit, drug related or otherwise offense to the owners of this site......

And did you really think that 'other' photo you posted on this thread was appropriate????? You are a very bright soul, and know darn well that a picture of an elongated throat is not offensive regardless of it's caption, while other photos you may find using the photos caption would be most offensive.

Call it PC if you would like. Call it censorship if you would like. Call me a prude if you would like, but remember....... it's my job (as in employment, not what that word conjurs up in your mind).

OUCH to all those great pictures. Happy belated birthday Acacia.Do not piss-off surfers!!!!!I guess is the message!
Re: day in pictures #3

Daniel, I ask you this only as a matter of principle, not to convince you or anybody else that Im right and you're wrong, or anything.

There is no limits in 'ruling the board' and "cleansing the board" if you follow that pattern... That pic that you admit you "was tempted to delete" in a most simply way shows off that the 'naughtiness' was in YOUR mind, not in the actual shot. There was NOTHING offensive, abusive or pornographic in that pic, and thats what I trying to tell you. Its just your (and mine) mind that put such content in it, and thats why I find it funny and interesting... and appropriate even for this reggae forum.

As for the second pic, yes, its vulgar a bit, but only a bit... Four grown up men standing at urinals, nothing exposed... except their weird outlook and wild haircuts..but I like that pic as it resembled me in a way of ZZ Top standard video clips... Only instead of guitars these guys got in their hands ...you know what.

Dont overacaciased your moderating job Daniel.

As for the 'kitch' and thrash, no, its two different categories.

For example, Tarantino made a very nice thrash movie "Pulp Fiction', but almost all US family TV series are 'kitch'...

Here are some examples of kitch photos:

Re: day in pictures #3
January 27, 2006 07:27PM
Zoki, the second image i was referring to was not the ZZ top urinal one, but rather one that I now remember was in the Dirtweed I-Threes tour thread. I deleted the ZZ top one by mistake, when I had intended to delete the one (you remember.... a lady on the beach) that was inappropriate. Here's a hint: If you never post an image that could remotely be considered as offensive by a prude like me, then you won't have to worry about a non-offensive photo being deleted by accident......
Re: day in pictures #3

JB, I know perfectly well what I was trying to tell Daniel, and thats definetely not how he should do his job.

"Daniel, I ask you this only as a matter of principle, not to convince you or anybody else that Im right and you're wrong, or anything."

This is a matter of principle, JB.
Re: day in pictures #3
January 27, 2006 07:31PM
Ah, that one...Well, I thought it should be deleted, and I have no complaints about it as it was just an answer to Dirtweed demand....

I was tempted to delete Dirtweed, you know...(smiley)

I don't quite see how a natural landscape could be considered kitsch, but I'll disregard being called tacky by you. I can't believe you're talking seriously about this...

I thought the ice crystals were cool. Anyway, here's another picture that you may find offensive but others might like and I think is really beautiful.

"I don't quite see how a natural landscape could be considered kitsch"

The problem is not with the landscape Acacaia but with the photo of that landscape. You couldnt make a shot without making a certain choice of the material and also, there are techical facilities (ie angle of camera, light, etc.) There is no objective and neutral photo, each pic reflects the man behind the lenses.

"Anyway, here's another picture that you may find offensive but others might like and I think is really beautiful."

Yes, its beautifull but inna Walt Disney way (imho).
