Roots or Dance Hall Styles?

As a collective group of Reggae listeners, does it matter to you which styles are played. I would love a three day pure roots festival. Its hard for me to feel Sizzla, Capleton or Shaggy's vibes after hearing The Abyssinians, Ras Michael or Pablo Moses. Do you feel what I am saying? Root's melow vibes or Dance Hall high energy vibes?

Speaking of both styles...I wonder if there will be two stages at Boonville?

I like the concept but some venues may not support this approach with the required separation.

Yep, there's room for all facets of Jamaican music. Much as I love & appreciate roots...three days straight would be boring, so can imagine casual reggae fans would be even more turned-off by the concept.

4doggs, a good measure of each & let loose such segregation----
some of us woulda tell yah it's ALL essentially 'dancehall' ,
20 years from now what called dancehall today will be called roots,
depending on if it has the staying power....

I change my reply to "3 days of roots would be perfect" so that dirtweed can change his answer to "dancehall all the way!"

Hey 4doggs, I hear ya, I don't feel Sizzla or Shaggy either. I would dig your line-up posted elsewhere (copied below), even some I don't know cause I would want to check 'em out. I consider SNWMF primarily a roots festival, given that even the dancehall is mainly consciencous lyrics.

Main thang is keeping the reggae music flowing forever and that means different strokes to keep the folks coming. Plus, acts not seen during the day are for the occassional break I need so I can stay up late for the dancehall.
