There is a short cut when you get to Bootjack. There is a little gas station with a single lane bridge next to it. If you take that you will skip the whole Sonora thing and save ten minutes off your ride.

Valentino or Spliff Smoker...Can you please help me out with specific directions for the shortcut. I will be driving through the night from Phoenix and any time saved would really help us out. I will be coming up the 99 from the South. Thanks for your help.

If you get too lost in the mountains, stop in at my place when you reach the other end of 209.

I'm just outside of Plymouth, and I will arrive onsite early tomorrow afternoon.

I'm stackin' up my stuff now and looking forward to good times soon come.

Perhaps we met at Mt. Shasta or one of the shows in Truckee. I missed SNWMF for the last two years, but I'm there this year!

Incidentally, all of the towns, cities, and villages along 49 get VERY congested on Fridays. Take a good look at your maps, and explore methods for driving around Sonora and others.

If you're coming from Sacramento or Folsom or Placerville or that neck of the woods, this route is the quickest way to avoid Drytown, Amador City, and Sutter Creek. All those towns will be thick with touristas on Friday from about 11A until 8P.

Take Highway 124 through Ione.

124 begins at the junction of Highway 16 and Highway 124.

16 and 124 come together just west of the junction of 16 and 49.

Stay on 124 until 124 ends at the Junction of 124 and 88.

Turn LEFT (i.e. east) onto 88.

88 east joins up with 49 south in an area known as Martell.

49 and 88 run together through Jackson.

49 breaks away from 88 at a stoplight just south of Safeway in Jackson.

Stay on 49 south until you reach Frogtown!
