congos on tour from rec.music.reggae
February 22, 2006 09:49PM
The original and legendary reggae group, the CONGOS, is back together
again, and in even better form. The original trio Cedric Myton, Roydell
Johnson, and Watty Barnett, are together and ready to bring their unique
reggae style to a new generation of fans, and their long standing ones
too. AO Management is proud to manage this historic reggae group.

The "Congos Reunion Tour" is being now being booked. Also on this tour
is the enigmatic Everton Blender, with Tasha T, and Max Adio. The tour
is sponsored by Explorer Music, and will begin in sunny Italy in May.
People interested in this tour should contact one of the booking
contacts below.

Funny thing about the Congos. Any time I told with anyone knowledgable in the reggae music business that I had backed the Congos, they invariably replied to the effect of "great! Did you get paid?"
Good luck to whoever's putting them out there. I love their music like cook food, but I can't bother with disrespect.

Anyone currently playing reggae music expecting to get payed comes from a severely dysfunctional family dynamic and are pathalogically re-enacting an unmet need for approval stemming from the core wound perpetuated by the caregivers of their childhood.

I'd love to see this happen, as I'd love to see the Congos perfrom as original, but somehow I think this is just a dream......

Didn't the original Congos (Cedric, Roy, Watty) play Rebel Salute? Maybe Sis Irie can answer that. If so, can all of them come to the USA? I was told at least one of them will have a tuff time doing so.
I too would like to see the originals together again, now they'll just have to find some sucke...er, musicians to back them.

Yes, they were at Rebel Salute and it was magical seeing them under the bright stars and full moon. Ashanti Roy, Cedric and Watty were all there. I have doubts along with you as to whether these three originals will actually become part of a tour. However, I really loved seeing them and hope for whatever is best for the Congos. Cedric played with Ras Michael and Jimmy Cliff the year before at Rebel Salute. I searched the internet for photos of them before going to Ja this year and could not find any that were within the last fifteen or more years. I was fortunate to get some shots at the show.

These are copyright protected so please just enjoy them here. I am more than happy to share them with the Congos for promotion of their shows or website so if anyone here does end up promoting a show for them, please email and I will gladly send photos for use~ blessed.

Dubguy, you made my day. I love photography so much that any time someone appreciates the images of these incredible reggae artists, I am totally inspired to continue on. Whenever you see something you like, feel free to let me know, not to feed my ego but to establish that the true soul of the artist is coming across. Heartical thanks, each and every time~
