on the drive ta work dis mornin, it's gwaan be Rockamovya...

Three founding members of Groundation join forces with a legendary
Jamaican drummer and a grammy nominated Jazz guitarist to form
ROCKAMOVYA. The name comes from Leroy Horsemouth Wallace, Jamaican
patios style and is meant to show the unity and power of the music.
The sound is fresh and very different from the Groundation works, but
it remains deeply rooted in Reggae and Jamaican popular music.

Tracklist:

01. Take The Night
02. Ya Better Really
03. Ther Bounty
04. Warrior Sound
05. Battling Within
06. Red Rose
07. Coolin'I

Also jammin' the Cornell Campbell "I shall not remove" and "original blue recordings"; "The Essential King Tubby"; Max Romeo "Wet Dream" and "Open the Iron Gate"; and a couple of Johnny Clarke and Prince Buster albums that have been driving me wild. Oh, and i can't get enough of the Alton Ellis "I'm Still in Love with You" comp, esp. tracks 9 (I love Hortense Ellis!) and 18. And don't sleep on Noel Ellis either...

July 16, 2008 09:43PM
I love reading these "what are you listening to" posts. Lots of great referrals.

I just finished loading up over 10GB of reggae tunes to my iPod. Finally broke down and got one, after avoiding it for a long time. Great little gadgets.

I used to listen mainly in my car and at home while cooking dinner etc. Now I can listen throughout the day and bring my collection with me.

Anyway, here's some recent tracks from today:

Aswad: African Children (live)
Junior Delahaye: All I Need Is Jah
Glen Brown/King Tubby: Assak Lawn No. 1 Dub
Jacob Miller: Baby I Love You So
The Twinkle Brothers: Jah Kingdom Come
Leroy Smart: Ballistic Affair
The Mighty Diamonds: The Breadwinner
Hugh Mudell: Can't Pop No Style On I
Clarence Parks: Don't Shoot Gunman
Mill Henry/Clive Field Marshall: Come On And Rock Me
Lucky Dube: Concrete Jungle
Bushman: Creatures Of The Night
Half Pint: Days I Can't Forget
The Abyssinians: Declaration Of Rights
UB40: Don't Let It Pass You By (trust me, this doesn't suck)
Burning Spear: Door Peep
Aswad: Finger Gun Style
Garth Dennis: Slow Coach
Everton Blender: Ghetto People Song
The Gladiators: Can't Stop Righteousness
The Tamlins: Go Away Dream
Mystic Revealers: Got To Be A Better Way
Horace Andy: Government Land
Sugar Minott: The Half
Leroy Smart: Hate No One
Israel Vibrations: Haunted Valley
Half Pint: Have A Little Faith
Junior English: Heading For The Wrong Direction
Buju Banton: Hills And Valleys
Michael Prophet: Hurt No One
The Twinkle Brothers: I Don't Want To Be Lonely Anymore
Nasio Fontane: Jah Bless Africa
Tony Rebel: Jah Is By My Side
Inner Circle: Jah Music
The Viceroys: Jollification
The Melodians: Love One Another
Steel Pulse: Macka Splaff
Jabob Miller: Mixed Up Moods
Wailing Souls: Move On
Barrington Levy: Black Roses
Norris Reid: Positive Thinking
Dennis Brown: The Prophet Rides Again
John Holt: Riding For A Fall
Johnny Osbourne: Truth And Rights
The Abyssinians: Satta Massagana
The Viceroys: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abendego
Frankie Paul: Shame
Beres Hammond: She Loves Me Now
Isreal Vibrations: Unseen Bullet
Ini Kamoze: World A Music

And the list goes on. Over 5 days worth of music, according to my iPod. Just hit play and let 'er rip. Lots of nice 7", 10", and 12" singles transferred from vinyl, and my entire reggae CD collection. A good blend of rare roots all the way up through some newer albums.

I will look for some of the tracks mentioned by a lot of other replies on this thread to see if I can buy singles somewhere online, unless someone wants to trade some tunes. I prefer to pay and be legit and be hopeful that the artist gets a small piece of the pie somehow.

One Love
