Love the life you live, live the life you love from the Unpolished album (that gets my best album vote too)

tough to pick just one, but "Bushman" and "Eyes Are the Light" (or the anything off Unpolished, one of the greatest albums ever produced) come to mind immediately.

Misery truly want company
so they are selling you
their dysfunctional psychological tendencies
but I n I a bushman. . .

Eyes are the lights of your body
look into the Ites
realize you are infinity
somebody worthy of noble deeds. . .

not your typical ragga-style, "guns n punanny" lyricism (or "Jah n punanny", for you Buju heads), I know, but it works for me.

Voughn has some incredible lyrics. To me, his voice is the best of the modern roots bands. There are many artists whose lyrics seem fake and cliche, with mentions of Rastafari thrown in to make it seem like "authentic" reggae music. Midnite to me is one of the few groups with meaningful lyrics. Just my two cents.

Second Sierra' selection
"Love the life you live.." they really pulled it off so nice last time I saw them. That song was stuck in my head for days after.

Right now my favorite is "Sing Ye" off the Assini album, But my favorite Midnite tune changes frequently. Each time I listen the vibes seem to go deeper.

I still really love Mama Africa but I enjoy many songs of their's as my "favorite".
I think Jahbok Wha Ova Come from Scheme A Things are very catchy.
I also love Ras for a Reason and Banking In The Pig.

Humble Wah at the moment... always changing
Re: Favorite Midnite Tune
March 21, 2006 08:31PM
structa from vijan has gotten me lately...

also abadan abyss from ainshant maps, old robe from assini, empress from ras mek peace, that's on you from snbv, and royal habits from jah grid...i'm cutting myself off there before the list spins outta control...there really can't just be one.

aside from the repeats above that are obvious all-times -- love the life you live (that entire album really), cradle of joy, etc...it really does change on the daily; there is a midnite song that equates with every mood and level of vibratory healing that i need...

blessed love

Old Robe, always quenches I thirst when they perform this song. 4 out of 5 shows they hit it and the one time it wasn't played Iah went away hungry.

"New Life" from SKBV has a special place in mi heart. Of course, my oldest son (9) has claimed that disc as his, plays it every night at bedtime.

Ras to the Bone is probably my favorite. Jubilees is a great album, tho it doesn't get much love on this board.

BTW, why you always gotta hate on everything, Ali? I mean, I never see you come with the positivity, always bashing down without ever building up. You rip on everything from Jazz to Grateful Dead, from Funk to Midnite? What is it that you do like? And why do you think everything should share your musically closed-minded view of the world.
