Roy Cousins is a tall, quiet gentle giant who now lives in England in Liverpool, Lancs. He was once in a great roots group called the Royals but I wouldn't really describe him as a roots artist per se.

Now for great roots artists, look no further than Albert Johnson.

The Royals were indeed great. "Pick Up the Pieces" and "Dubbing With The Royals" are 2 essential albums, but Roy Cousins' was a lot more than one of the hundreds of slick vocal groups. One of the best lyricists, and one of the only artists to be consistently self-produced.He also produced, on his own label (Tamoki Wambesi) some of the greatest Roots and Dub of the late 70's by people such as: Earl 16, Don Carlos, Cornell Cambell, Junior Reid, Prince Far I, Roots Radics, Tubby, Scientist, Peter Chemist, . . .

Also, I'd like to add Bim Sherman aka Jarrett Tomlinson aka Lloyd Vincent to the list
