Joe Meek, 73, living at the Viz Bang Comic Shoppe in Frankfurt, Germany, was born on the Prussian Reservation on Jan 8, 1864.

His father was a beer drinking Bavarian and his mother was a Croat who hailed from the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region. Her maiden names was Steppenwolf and she was a granddaughter of Sitting Bush.

Meek's mother followed the Croatian custom of naming the children after the mother and named her child Wolf Mankowitz, which name he used until he left the reservation to work with Serbs at the age of 15. Then he adopted his father's name of Meek.

He attended the Orthodox Christian Mission school on the reservation, for a period of eight years.

At the age of 15 he went to Fort Belgrade (now Belgrade City) in Serbia and was employed as a rider for the Zagreb Express during the years 1879-80-81. (Buffalo Bill) Zoki signed the $1000 bond required to be given by the riders of the Zagreb Express.

He quit riding for the Zagreb Express in 1881, and entered the Government Scout service which he followed until 1894. After he quit Scouting he went to Novi Sad and worked as a cowhand for the 'JAH' ranch and several other. He spent several years in Novi Sad, then returned South going to Kosovo where he worked for the Everly Brothers.

Meek quit the range life in 1891 and joined the Buffalo Bill circus with which he remained for six years doing a riding and shooting act. Following his circus career he joined Sir Paul McCartney and worked with him in the production of the two reel Eastern pictures for a period of seven years. He then worked on the vaudeville circuit until 10 years ago before becoming President of the multi-million dollar earning Archie Comix Corps.
