Also WOW Hall Eugene May 27th

5/27 : Soldiers of Jah Army
Saturday, May 27, Mystic Lion Arts welcomes SOJA (Soldiers of Jah Army), Everyday Prophets, MC Mystic and I-Chèle & the Circle of Light. Soldiers of Jah Army (SOJA) is a original roots reggae band from Washington D.C. consisting of Bob Jefferson (bass & vocals), Jacob Hemphill (lead vocals & guitar), Ryan Berty (drums), Pat O’Shea (keyboards) and Ken Brownell (percussion). Formed in 1996, the band has released three albums, all produced by Jim Fox at Lion & Fox Studios: Soldiers of Jah Army (2000), Peace in a Time of War (2002) and 9-1-1 (2004). “Lead singer Jacob Hemphill has a remarkable voice and passionate delivery seemingly made for roots reggae,” notes Reggae-Reviews.com, “the songwriting too is amazingly strong and consistent.” At the 7th Annual Washington D.C. Reggae Music Awards, SOJA was honored with awards for Best Reggae Band, Recording of the Year and Songwriters of the Year. They have performed on multiple occasions with Burning Spear, The Wailers, Toots 7 the Maytals, The Meditations, Culture, Midnite and Israel Vibration. I-Chèle creates her own blend of roots rock reggae with a sensuous, passionate flair. Her original music, woven around deep drums and bass rhythms, is highly influenced by Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, and Sade. I-Chèle grew up in New York City and trained in music, dance and theater at the NYC School of Performing Arts. Her presence captivates audiences of all ages as she takes on a variety of subjects with danceable tunes and hopeful messages. I-Chèle is currently working a new album with producer Vince Black.

Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Doors open at 8:00 pm and showtime is 9:00. SHOWTIME: 9:00 PM, PRICE: $12 Advance, $15 Door.

Steve Trees had the vision and started moving everyone further and further back. If not for him and security crew, certainly several people, including myself, would have been crushed!
