Gimme Likkle One Drop as the man Tarrus Riley sings on the Tropical Escape riddim. Well, ok, here you go! New roots & culture mix by BMC, over 79 minutes with riddims and tracks from 2012 and 2013. Lotsa (but not only) JA productions this time and above all lotsa good music! Selection solely based on what I rate for whatever reason, not the charts! Noticable how many artists in their lyrby BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013
- 9 months agoThat's sooner than I thought. Nice one. Yeah, will probably be hell getting everything arranged and all, but ok, what has to be done.... As for reggae in dutch, not so much (worthwhile) out there. In the 80s there was this band called Doe Maar, who were extemely popular here (still are when they do shows) and played a mixture of reggae, ska and pop. Pretty good, although it's also a trip downby BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013
The initial version by Mr Vegas, Josey Wales & Shaggy (2010) was big already, but it just got better: All star line-up. Good vibes.by BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013

- 9 months agoAnd now for something different. I know many don't rate this kinda vibes at all, but at points I certainly do and some others here may do too (not sure), so post this one here anyway for those (few) interested that might be interested in: 2012 summer styled, danceable, feel-good and at points even poppy JA dancehall. Yep, can't say I never did a warn ya..... Party mi seh! :-) My latestby BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013
east bay herbalist, Sorry, took me a bit longer, but I've been busy cutting up all the modern mixes I've made in the past into tracks per riddim and encode the wav's (I luckily kept all of them as wav's on my drive) at higher bitrate then I posted them with before on podomatic, including Sit N Wonda, so waited with the upload for this improved version. Was / is very nice hearing back all theseby BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Respect east bay herbalist, loving the positivity! Thanks! I will see if I can locate Sit N Wonda somewhere on my hard drives. Should have it somewhere, haven't heard that one in a while, 3 years old by now I think. Will post a link here when I found and uploaded it.by BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013

Thanks for the kind words all, nice one! Highly enjoyed putting this one together and am happy with the final result, so hope you're all rocking to and enjoying this one too.by BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Summer time is here, time for another good-old roots & culture mix, summer style at BMC's Reggae Blog. Productions from mainly JA, UK and EU. Variety of riddims and artists and mixed in the usual BMC style: no full tunes, sound samples here and there, one continuous cd-length mix in the old-school mixtape tradition. The mix starts in a old-school fashion with Busy Signal introducing the mby BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Yep, loving the album too! Been meaning to write a review for my blog but just can't get to it, so didn't get further than taking a picture of my CD & LP and recommend it on the blog. Oh well, it's something. haha. Anyway, love the album, big up Busy, Jukeboxx and VP for getting it out.by BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Swing On - a 2011 Dancehall Mix - the sequel - 1 year agoDancehall time again at BMC's REGGAE BLOG! After Have A Good Time (a 2011 Dancehall Mix - summer edition) from late august here is a second and final mix together showcasing my choice of the most interesting dancehall from 2011 (feel free to disagree). No official best or anything, just a mix with tunes that just work for me, for various reasons, and contain big hits, but also less common tunby BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013

--just posted in a thread like this over at Blood & Fire earlier today, figured I might as well paste it here too, though it does mention or refers to earlier posts in the thread at B&F, but ok, don't feel like editing it, just so you know-- B&F thread here. Let me add some more, mainly non-UK, modern stuff to the topic. Still follow the current JA output, both dancehall and moby BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013

False Alarm - a 2011 Roots & Culture Mix - 1 year agoRoots time again at BMC's Reggae Blog. Modern roots that is, 2011 stylee. For this one I picked the more roots sounding riddims of the year over the sweet & mellow ones you hear so often these days. That last category will be subject of a new mix following soon I hope, this one has a more rootsier sound to it so might (!) please those not interested in the soft side of modern reggae more.by BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Quoteeast bay herbalistThe BMC mix is just FUN....from start to finish I am moving my neck and shaking my ass. Great mix to throw on around hour ten of work to keep pushing and get more done. Thanks a lot, east bay herbalist! That is very nice to hear (read)! Appreciate it.by BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Wow, thanks akee123! Very nice to read and glad you're rating the effort. Thanks!by BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Thanks for the comments all, appreciate it!by BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Just added a download link for a tracked version (22 tracks - zip-folder) in the original post. Note there's very few soundsamples in this one, not the busy siren-filled loud kinda mix you sometimes hear in dancehall. Just saying, might be good to know for some. Anyway, link should be working.by BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Not one for my usual 'Roots & Culture' followers: IT's DANCEHALL TIME AGAIN at BMC's REGGAE BLOG! As last year also in 2011 there's a whole lot of dancehall coming out of which just a small portion is actually worthwhile in my opinion, so I decided to join together a bunch of riddims and tunes in that category of 2011 that I rate for various reasons. Sometimes the ruff energy in some riddby BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Updated the discography with all new received info. Didn't feel like editing, copying and pasting it to all the boards I posted it on, so the latest version can only be found on my site now: Earliest tune found so far is this 12": Tarrus Riley & Jimmy Riley - Life Is No Bed Of Roses (Charm - 1999) Also, looking for more info on: Tarrus - Choff If (it?) Yes Mission Sound, an unknown tune to me too, but it turns out to be on youtube: Apparantely credited to just Tarus or Tarrus, younger sounding (bit of a different style too) but I hear similarities in the voice, so I do think it's indeed him. On a next message board someone else suggested the same tune too, so it's out there. Added it to the disco, thanks for the input!by BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013
As someone who highly rates the majority of the works of Tarrus Riley I decided to try to create a as complete as possible discography of him. I started off with what's in my own vinyl collection and added digital releases, collaborations and other tracks to the list that I have. In the end I found a next few titles on the net, what lead to this long list of tunes I'm aware of and I guess a quiteby BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Quotemosquito killeri've always loved to run the heptones "love without feeling" alongside big joe's "lick them face" too! Same here! In fact used them in my latest earlier roots mix (prefer the Big Joe over the Prince Heron myself, though both lovely tunes). Good to know there's a John Holt cut, didn't know that. Did hear samples of a Inge Larson track by that name (Goneby BMC - SNWMF Phorum 2013
