saying Midnite's popularity is just a passing trend is the ignorant part. I don't care if you like em or not, but their music speaks to my, and many others, heart and soul. That's why I like them, and no it's not just a trend... and don't say I'm some sort of Kool-aid drinker, that's offensive and yes, ignorant. whatsup papaken, you don't like Capleton? I agree with Strikkly, I think King Shango handled the situation with ease & grace. Right after the guy shoves him the 1st time, Capleton doesn't miss a beat and starts talking about Love. He didn't seem fazed at all and combated the negativity with positivity, like a True King. Those of you comparing Lebron to Jordan, or even Kobe, are seriously trippin'! Lebron has 1 ring, and those guys have 5-6 rings. It's not even close. Greatness is defined by winning, and Lebron has a ways to go. Sure he is a gifted player, but he is not mentally up to par with those guys. He just does not seem to rise to the occasion. I've always hated the Spurs. Too boring and "fundamental" for NBA entertainment. But now that my Warriors and even OKC are out, I'm finding myself rooting for the old dudes. Another title will surely cement Duncan's legacy as the greatest power forward of all time. Happy Memorial Day everyone. Does anybody have a good recommendation for a definitive biography on Haile Selassie? I am curious to learn more about the man who has so greatly influenced Rastafari. I have been an avid listener of reggae my entire adult life, but realize I know little about the King of Kings who has been such an inspiration to many. I definitely think Army is underrated. The man has some quality material. Agree with Stamina that reggae in general gets overlooked as a genre. And I would like to add Everton Blender, he seems to have flown a bit under the radar his whole career. Ninja, I never considered Lucky Dube underrated, he seems to have fans world wide! I've wanted to see Gaudi for quite a while now. He is in high demand, and headlines a lot of these EDM festivals. But as stated above, he has other styles besides electronica, and does the reggae dub thing quite well. I think he's a nice addition.by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013

Yes I agree Mr. P. I've always respected ROTR choice of artists and their showtimes, but this one leaves me scratching my head. I count at least 5 performers on that list who should be headlining the premier slot on Saturday night. At the very least it should be Anthony B, he has waaaay more hits than Julian ever will. sorry, didn't mean to start a controversy. yeah it's a trivial fee to complain about, but then again, all this nickel & diming adds up. I know it's the nature of the beast, but I still think it's a rip-off. funds are really tight these days for me, so I start to question these extra "fees". Just a little rant here. What is up with ticket fees? I see that for a 1-day saturday ticket, it is $75, plus a $5 ticket "surcharge". How do we get rid of these outside agencies and their "fees". Ok Ok, sorry for stirring the pot once again regarding Midnite (well, J-72 started it, lol). My comparing the band to Burning Spear was the fact that both bands can lull the audience in to a trance-like state by the ends of their shows. Man, I am still trying to figure out how I will last through the whole day Saturday. Starting with Iquilah in the a.m., all the way 'till the dancehall with no breaks except for maybe Marcia Griffiths. Gonna have to train for this one... Mulligan-- so using "hater" makes one 15 huh? Yes Rossta, Etana is probably my favorite female reggae vocalist (sorry Dezarie). She has an AMAZING voice and is chock full of positive energy. LOVED her performance at SNWMF a couple years ago. Her style is a little more cross-over than traditional roots reggae, but she's awesome. I have her first album "The Strong One" and think its great. Couldn't disagree with you more, Nomo. Sports has always been an integral part of my life, and I consider myself a respectable guy. Yes, there are gonna be winners and losers, but there is nothing wrong with striving to be the best you can be, and apply that to all areas of life.
