My top 3: 1) Max Romeo! 2) Protoje 3) Cornell Cambell Never seen any of these 3 live, and I've seen a LOT of live reggae! Big Up SNWMF!by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
saying Midnite's popularity is just a passing trend is the ignorant part. I don't care if you like em or not, but their music speaks to my, and many others, heart and soul. That's why I like them, and no it's not just a trend... and don't say I'm some sort of Kool-aid drinker, that's offensive and yes, ignorant. I've been listing to reggae music for almost 30 years, and Midnite is for REAL!by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
whatsup papaken, you don't like Capleton? I agree with Strikkly, I think King Shango handled the situation with ease & grace. Right after the guy shoves him the 1st time, Capleton doesn't miss a beat and starts talking about Love. He didn't seem fazed at all and combated the negativity with positivity, like a True King. Bless!by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
yeah Danny Cricial, if there is one thing I know it's basketball. Actually make that 2, reggae also...by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
"Jeff, too me midnites audience is bigger than it should be, so therefore they are overrated.. I think when something is a trend it's overrated.." pretty ignorant statement....by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Those of you comparing Lebron to Jordan, or even Kobe, are seriously trippin'! Lebron has 1 ring, and those guys have 5-6 rings. It's not even close. Greatness is defined by winning, and Lebron has a ways to go. Sure he is a gifted player, but he is not mentally up to par with those guys. He just does not seem to rise to the occasion. Jordan said the game was 90% mental, or something like tby Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Nomo- I had never seen Alborosie live until last month at the New parish. I came away very impressed, dude has skills! Seemed very charismatic and seems to enjoy himself. You might want to give him another chance!by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Yes Haile, I definitely agree that M-Selah and Luv Fyah get slept on. Big up the local artists!by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
I've always hated the Spurs. Too boring and "fundamental" for NBA entertainment. But now that my Warriors and even OKC are out, I'm finding myself rooting for the old dudes. Another title will surely cement Duncan's legacy as the greatest power forward of all time. If they win this year, Duncan will have won titles in 3 separate decades, who else in history has done that? And yesby Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Happy Memorial Day everyone. Does anybody have a good recommendation for a definitive biography on Haile Selassie? I am curious to learn more about the man who has so greatly influenced Rastafari. I have been an avid listener of reggae my entire adult life, but realize I know little about the King of Kings who has been such an inspiration to many. Give thanks & blessings!by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
How was this? I'm curious to check out this Ras in Boomville...by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013

I definitely think Army is underrated. The man has some quality material. Agree with Stamina that reggae in general gets overlooked as a genre. And I would like to add Everton Blender, he seems to have flown a bit under the radar his whole career. Ninja, I never considered Lucky Dube underrated, he seems to have fans world wide! I just started listening to Busy Signal, and yes he has beenby Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
I've wanted to see Gaudi for quite a while now. He is in high demand, and headlines a lot of these EDM festivals. But as stated above, he has other styles besides electronica, and does the reggae dub thing quite well. I think he's a nice addition.by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Yes I agree Mr. P. I've always respected ROTR choice of artists and their showtimes, but this one leaves me scratching my head. I count at least 5 performers on that list who should be headlining the premier slot on Saturday night. At the very least it should be Anthony B, he has waaaay more hits than Julian ever will. Same with Junior Kelly. I thought when they 1st announced the line-up thaby Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
sorry, didn't mean to start a controversy. yeah it's a trivial fee to complain about, but then again, all this nickel & diming adds up. I know it's the nature of the beast, but I still think it's a rip-off. funds are really tight these days for me, so I start to question these extra "fees". I didn't know you could mail order a 1-day ticket Daniel, thanks. Maybe next year SNWMFby Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Just a little rant here. What is up with ticket fees? I see that for a 1-day saturday ticket, it is $75, plus a $5 ticket "surcharge". How do we get rid of these outside agencies and their "fees". It really bugs me, and I don't see what the point is. And I'm not just knocking SNWMF here, but all ticket "outlets" that charge a fee that's more than 2-3 bucks. Seeby Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Friday night looks like a winner! Junior Kelly's slot, on the other hand, is definitely lame! 3 p.m. on Sunday? That's usually naptime! They should flip flop his and Rootz Underground's slot...by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Yup, Saturday is gonna be a marathon!!!by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Ok Ok, sorry for stirring the pot once again regarding Midnite (well, J-72 started it, lol). My comparing the band to Burning Spear was the fact that both bands can lull the audience in to a trance-like state by the ends of their shows. Believe me, I saw Spear live about a dozen times from the 90's-2000's, and when he says "talk to me people" and "do you wnat more Burning Spear?&by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Man, I am still trying to figure out how I will last through the whole day Saturday. Starting with Iquilah in the a.m., all the way 'till the dancehall with no breaks except for maybe Marcia Griffiths. Gonna have to train for this one... Mulligan-- so using "hater" makes one 15 huh? Not in my book. I just get sick of people taking potshots at Midnite, that's all, even though Iby Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Pablo Moses on the Village Stage in 2011. Super irie set!!!by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Yes Rossta, Etana is probably my favorite female reggae vocalist (sorry Dezarie). She has an AMAZING voice and is chock full of positive energy. LOVED her performance at SNWMF a couple years ago. Her style is a little more cross-over than traditional roots reggae, but she's awesome. I have her first album "The Strong One" and think its great. The singles "Roots" and "by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Big Up Etana everytime!by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
You Midnite haters just can't leave well enough alone, can you....by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
That's a rookie move if you can't can't make it through Sunday night! You gotta pace yourself! Just messin', I missed plenty of big acts back in the day at ROTR. I have to admit now that I'm older I'm much better at pacing myself and conserving my energy for the long haul....by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Very pertinent topic! I was just reminiscing about seeing Linvall Thompson for the 1 & only time back at Angels Camp somewhere around 2002 or so and how enjoyable it was... ...What's up with Linvall Thompson? Can we bring him to Boonville?by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
"Walter: I think you'll be well pleased and satisfied at the lack of 'conflict' in your wish list.... " Speaking of conflict Daniel, will the Windy City village stage show overlap with Protoge on main stage? As far as I'm concerned, pretty much the entire day Saturday is "must see", minus Marcia Griffiths. As much as I love Alpha Blondy, I will probably be only going foby Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
What are you going to bed early on Saturday? What about Damien Marley??by Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Couldn't disagree with you more, Nomo. Sports has always been an integral part of my life, and I consider myself a respectable guy. Yes, there are gonna be winners and losers, but there is nothing wrong with striving to be the best you can be, and apply that to all areas of life. At the end of the day it's just a game, and it's all about healthy competition, no sore winners or losers. THAT isby Reggabe - SNWMF Phorum 2013
