Stamina- your experience far outweighs my secondhand recount (though i'm sure its credible). Anyway, without providing more gossipy comments, perhaps he was having a bad day and got rude... Anyway, I definitely appreciate the trail that Toots blazed in reggae music. I also appreciate that he's never felt a need to conform to rasta ideology, or claim rasta just to fit in...by treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
for what its worth - my friends worked w toots at a venue in dc and he acted like a complete asshole. the guy is an amazing talent, but i definitely wouldnt call him the warmest, nicest guy ever. big vein - are you implying there wouldve been some sort of "hood" element at a toots show in b-more, atl or mia that would've dealt with this bottle thrower? cause thats honestly far from rby treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
it was some 19-yo. I heard he was quickly arrested. btw - isn't throwing bottles at performers a tradition at shows down in JA?by treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
wow - i didn't realize snwmf was so like incredibly bohemian and tribalistic.by treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
here's a recent song of soja's w j boog and mixed by jr blender.......(plays much better on a loud system with some bass)by treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013

I find Bob Dylan's music hard to weave through and identify with as a whole. But, the tunes that do strike a chord with me, strike hard. Here's a couple of my favorites. Anyone else care to add?by treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
i think fortunate youth and the ghetto youth crew should unite and start a band called middle-class youth.by treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
great post the man...."fig tree" should be mentioned...love that song. joseph hill wrote good music in the 70s, 80s, and 90s....his later albums "payday" "trust me" and "one stone" (all ras records i might add) are just as good as his classic hits from the 70s. He did tail off a bit in the 2000s though...i wasn't as big a fan of "humble african"by treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
glad to see our postings here at the beloved snwmf forum have outlasted a pope. lets see if we're still posting here when pope francis a go dun.by treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
is that father guido sarducci? love that guy. though i think this guy is a more realistic choice...by treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
nice. thanks for the suggestions. i used to have "since i threw the comb away" a long time ago, but it never really got me...maybe i didn't give it enough of a chance. will give these albums a gander.by treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
IV and the Roots Radics put on a killer show at the Howard Theater last night. The Radics were at the top of their game, and Skelly and Wis both sounded fantastic. I was really happy to see them put on a great show (after the last one not being so on point). Really enjoyed some of their new(ish) songs off Reggae Knights as well. As mentioned by JPS earlier, this was indeed the backing band: Fby treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
never really got into the twinkle brothers. can you enlighten me on the essentials?by treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
does anyone know who's in the current roots radics band? flabba I'm assuming? is dwight pickney back with them? (i thought i heard that) anyone other members i would've heard of?by treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
i was at that DC show. haven't caught midnite in a long time as they rarely venture to DC anymore. my take....there were moments of greatness accompanied by long stretches of monotony. since i caught them last (maybe at snwmf 2004), its only gotten alot more "tired" if you would. Ron Benjamin moved over to bass (a while ago i guess) and the new keyboard player did not play one lineby treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
sad to hear these news - on a flight to dc right now chattin about w the guy next to me. there will no doubt be a huge outpouring of love down on U street over the next few days for the godfather the passing of a legend - im glad i got to catch him live a few times - one of my favorites was one the nats first home opener in rfk stadiium and he broke out bustin loose on top of the dugout. iby treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
by now you've seen this vid on FB or someother media outlet. in my mind, this presents some limitless possibilities, and alot of financial opportunity...maybe its just a fad that goes by the wayside, or maybe they continue improving this technology and they can recreate an entire live concert or something.... would be cool, perhaps one day, to see a hologram performance at SNWMF (im thinkiby treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013

east bay herbalist - not that i think el roockie sounds remotely similar to gentleman (and i don't think your opinion is very credible if that is what you believe), these songs came out before gentlemen was on the scene. ninja - in regards to your modern music scene today comment, and advanced technology, and the ease with which one can produce a song - i see your point. it is a major reasonby treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
the formula for reggae today goes like this - forget the people that play instruments, forget forming a band...lets build a "riddim" on a computer.....then, will email the track around so that we can have 50 guys with one name sing over that riddim....then in no time we will have 50,000 radio-ready "reggae" songs - then deejays will buy the music because they can mix the songsby treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
in regards to the production value - this is a rough cut - live studio recording - apologies that its not a "don corleone-esque" - over produced - pro tools - piece of crap "riddim" that was made specifically so numb nut reggae dee jays spend their money on it and play it at the club so they look cool. what a sad state of affairs reggae is in these days.by treez - SNWMF Phorum 2013
