Carlton Coffie......solo and as Inner Circle lead singerby akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
With all the Groundation talk...I should note the Professors excellent live release where he covers Bunny, Spear, and Higgs. Solo stuff is solid too. Just wish he sang less...by akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
I think Groundation is amazing with their sound they produce. Just wondering if this was a case of a choosing the wrong guy to sing. Nothing against him concerning his creativity, message, talent...it's just the voice.by akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Would they be better by replacing the Professor? I just can't listen to an album with his voice. A few songs, yes. An album? No.by akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Yes, I fear Spear is turning into a conspiracy theory expert. Far as I can tell EB has done nothing wrong. Even the content of his songs is focused on "record stealing," minus any interesting metaphors like Bob did.by akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
One of the thrills of buying albums was reading about who played on the tracks and who produced certain tracks. How come ITunes and other online programs can't find a way to include them?by akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
The problem is....when he recycles Wailers tracks, no one actually ever hears them. Radio play..doubtful, even on reggae stations. Someone close to him should get him in touch with some producers who try to,bring out the best in him. Look at Johnny Cash in his older days working with Rick Rubin. Obviously he needs to feed himself and family, but no reason he can't do both....food and a reby akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
How can someone so talented simply choose to recycle Wailers tunes and Marley recordings? He is surrounded by all "yes" men? Get a real reducer to work with him and challenge him to put out something of high quality. All he needs to do is look at Jimmy Clffs latest.by akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Are there any current US based reggae bands which are worth looking into? Something beyond Groundation, JBB, Panda....etc Thanks Akeeby akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Just curious...what artists still use live horns in concert?by akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Both of these artists put out way too few albums with Jack Ruby and then one after his passing. I know Donovan put out an album a few years back. We need artists like them. Is Donovan still based in southern California?by akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Yes Adam..forgot to mention himby akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Gotta check our Midnightraver blog Never has one site released so much unreleased live reggae and lost Marley tapes...plenty of Tosh tooby akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
What I respect about them is how they involve artists such as Barrington Levy, Don Carlos, Half Pint, and weave in D Brown and King Yellowman songs in their concerts.by akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Its easy not to like reggae rock bands but should I feel guilty for liking Slightly Stoopid? They do great backing tracks for Don Carlos and even do a Donovan Banzai cover on latest album. They have morphed from punk reggae to more rootsy sounding, albeit their own, sound. Live horns as well....remember those in reggae?by akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Drummie Zeb? Surprised at thisby akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Yes I hear about Natural Black going another route, but maybe if he had linked up with a producer who emphasized live instruments, including brass, he could have been more prominent.by akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
If only more artists took a cue from Jimmy and put out a roots record with pure 70s style. His latest is pure gold, with live instruments and crucial lyrics. Imagine what others could do if they really embraced putting out a quality album?by akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Besides Kevin kinsella, who plays the tracks from these crucial albums?by akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
where s best site for reggae t shirts? vintage ones? thanksby akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
I am always bothered when Spear does his own background vocals. Is this for financial reasons or do they think it sounds better? I know many other singers do this too, and I am wondering what others think? Why not allow other voices to decorate the lead vocals? Cool Vibes Rankin Robby akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
BMC consistently has the best mixes...hats off to you Rankin Robby akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
I though the new release was very good, and wondered what others thought? I question Capleton deejaying over a slow riddim, but other than that...good roots.by akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
I agree..Spear needs to limit the "record companies screwed me" tunes. He has too much to offer in other topics. Akeeby akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Why would the us send him to JA?....buju broke US laws and needs to serve time. What a waste of talent ....by akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
In the end why was he hanging with these guys, and why why was he trying to "talk the talk" as a drug dealer? No one to blame but himself.by akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Al doesn't hold back, especially on Family Man. . interesting readby akee123 - SNWMF Phorum 2013
