I have attended for the past four years. It's a small venue with two stages within 100 feet of each that are alternated. This is my second favorite venue with SNWMF being my first. All the artist are great, its feel like you're jammin in your back yard with a bunch of your best friends. The wind gets really bad at times, so you must anchor every thing down well. I really don't care for the vibe at Long Beach, but that because of the extremely ridiculous pat down procedures. I am a vendor and they treat us like criminals. We're are patted down and searched along with our merchandise. They told us that it's for our protection and because of a vendor that came a couple of years ago and was passing out free herb with a purchase. Jah blessed me with my husband, at a reggae concert. I now have friends that I only see once at year at reggae concerts. I have something to look forward to every year, that I didn't have before. Greetings! This year I have vended at Reggae Rising, Northwest, Seattle Hempfest, Spring Reggae in Arizona, Reggae in the Desert, and to many others to mention. Regretfully, I would have to say that Monterey was the least organized and poorly planned. I believe the organizers and there crew are extremely greedy, egotistical, and are liars. Greetings! There were a few arrests in Long Beach last year. I know of one personally. There were undercover police soliciting herb and they caught a few unsuspecting victims. Also, there was a vendor in the big vendor room, who was giving out herb with purchase of a t-shirt. I saw them get escorted out and there booth dismantled. Just In!!! Santa Monica Pier was "mashed up and burned down"!!! If you weren't there you're not accountable. Fully Fullwood and his band, along with Junior Marvin and his neice Luna Angel started the fire and the crowd took it from there. Best free summer concert so far in Southern Cali!! Greetings! I believe Reggae Rising and Reggae on the River crew, are all culture thieves. One crew got mad because the other was able to steal more and got away with it. I not supporting either one spiritually. Because I don't believe they have real love for brothas and sistas. Only if they can make money off of them, like the artists.
