Please tell Capleton that we do not think he is capable of playing from midnight to 2am, and challenge him to provide us wrong!by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
How did the show go? Any reviews regarding Perfect???by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
What time do you think it is realistic to expect Capleton to take the stage by? He has been on a big world tour, so I assume the show could be 1 - 1.5 hours.by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
This mix should be getting heavy play everywhere. It is a classic. I just put it back into heavy rotation on my car CD player this weekend.by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
I've also been meaning to comment on Hold Di Faith. This mix has been getting heavy rotation in my car for the last 4 months. It is one of the best mixes I've heard, hands down. It crackles with energy and has perfect flow through the first 40-41 songs. The remixes are creative, and the dub plates are high quality. My favorites are the Bounty Killer and Tony Curtis (edited from Sanchez) dubs. Theby SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
A few of my wife's comments as we made the long drive back to Livermore: 1. Irie Dole is her favorite DJ 2. Rocker T always puts his heart and soul into his performances. A funny moment was Rocker T's observations on some of the drunker members of the audience.by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Anybody going out to Pier 23 tonight for JWS Harvest Time Session? Sounds like a smoking good timeby SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
For me it was this tune first heard late at night on an outdoor sound system at my first reggae festival when SNWMF was at the old location. I think it spoke to me because it is so different from anything I had heard before then, plus it hinted at a deep levels of reggae music. But I think what really did it was catching other peoples reaction to the tune and seeing how much they were enjoyingby SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
One of the best shows I saw was the Reggae Rising combo of Lutan followed by Capleton. He brought pure fire, no way was he going to let Lutan outshine him. Plus that venue offered him the stage and crowd size that really gets him goingby SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
- 10 months agoJust wanted to say what a great mix Irie Times 5 is. Irie Dole, IMO, has always set the bar for ganja mixes with the I.T. series, with #'s 3 and 4 my favorite. #5 doesn't disappoint. It is full of dub plates and some of the latest riddims. Check it out. Would be great to attend a club event where Irie Dole plays a whole ganja set, a place where everybody can smoke without hassle.by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
I feel like such a dork for asking this, but what the heck are "Boops" and what does "trash and ready" mean? Thanks.by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Been listening to this one a lot lately. I think it is a beautiful song with a thoughtful structure. I like how they build up to the chorus. So here is my Psalm of the Day: ________________________________________________________________________ Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornfby SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Deadly Dragon Sound is a top notch sound from NY. Check out the mixes "Inna Singjay Stylee" and "inna DJ Stylee"by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
So the world isn't going to end? Thanks. Count Ossie and UB40 sure seem to occupy radically different ends of the spectrum. Like a lion laying down with a lamb?by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013

please translate for us non DJ's: "question though... is there a reason for +1'ing the tempo? kingston 13 is intended for scrubbing.... with the increased tempo, it completely throws off the intended feel.. "by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
I second Irie Dole as Emcee. He did a great job at New Parish for the Lutan Fyah show. Secondly, why can't the dancehall be in operation during some of the slower parts of the day, or later into the night with the correct volume dialed in so as not to violate any ordinances?by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Here is my favorite Jah Mason tune. Something about the rawness of his voice, it is like a live electric wire. He is near #1 on my list of artists I still want to see. Imagine if he had made ROTR a few years back. Sat night would have been: Jah Mason, Lutan Fyah, Capleton.,,by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
it seems like a compromise can be found here. What about the following options: 1. 4 local sounds play an hour each on Fri, with 15min hand overs between sets. Out of state/country sounds play on Sat night. 2. How about opening the dancehall up during the daytime for some sounds to play on? There are definitely lulls during the day when this would be appreciated. 3. Sunday night sets tilby SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Speaking of Prince Far I...here is my all time favorite by him: "Things Nuh Bright" Only 77 views?by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Just put a psalm in front is right. An artist like Prince Fari could read from the phonebook over the right tune, and it would still be great.by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Besides being one of my all time favorite stage names, Lord Sassafrass gives us a great toasting tune over Deborah Keese's Traveling. Here is Deborah Keese with Traveling: Here is Lord Sassafrass with Greenbay Inquest: These songs also give me something I like which is a high pitched voice chanting in the background. Anybody else know of some songs that fit this description? I have aby SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Does the strictly vinyl set on Monday mean that all the other dates are live music and/or digital beats?by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Even if just Anthony B plays, you will not leave wanting...by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
There was one guy who sang 3 songs right before Anthony B came on stage. I couldn't catch his name though. He was just a tiny luke warm appetizer that came before the real show.by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
As always, another excellent show from Anthony B last night. In fact, this was probably his best to date. Truly on point. He played for over 2 hours, and included some Gregory Issacs (Night Nurse), Peter Josh (Johnny B Good), Bob Marley (Total Destruction), and Culture (Conqueror). IMHO, this guy is the Reggae Ambassador for the 21st century. The true antidote to all the threads on this forumby SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Isn't it a bit ironic that we are getting on a guy for preaching his faith, when the music that we all love is all about spreading the "word"?by SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
Quoteso influenced by the gerry rafferty thread a couple weeks ago.. been checking out various 70s pop bands... anyway.. my question is this.. why do certain ethnic groups clap on all 4 beats? seems to be common in all these live settings.. while hearing reggae music, is it more natural to want to clap on the drum beat or the keyboard beat? As a non-musician, I imagine this might be kiby SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
How about the agency that reps Anthony B? 7th planet or something like that? They have turned him into one of the most consistent artists to tour the west coastby SommerKind - SNWMF Phorum 2013
