Its sad to see how the vibe of SNWMF is falling the same trend as ROR did. More and more a hard party w hard drugs and less and less consciousness. Have to avoid a lot of ignorance. I miss the good ol days.r

Its my favorite Bob Marley album, therefore one of my favorite albums period! I've had to repurchase it since it got so worn down from usage. Almost ever one of those songs make me want to cry. Its church!

He was the best performer of the evening. There weren't a lot of people in the venue yet but those who saw him enjoyed it. He was backed by some of the same drummer as the Wailers, and the same female backup vocalists. A couple of the musician were different.

Ok, I wish I had known that information. I'm not sure how many people do because this show was sold out, and I think its only because of their name. Sucks they're was a spit in the group. My friend went to their Santa Cruz show and said it was the same disappointment. Just seems like a bad tour.

I went to see the Wailer's perform at the Independent in SF yesterday. It was billed as The Wailers preforming the Uprising album. I haven't been that disappointed in a concert in a while. They sounded flat and disinterested at best, like some ordinary cover band. Not at all how I remembered them from back in the day. and they didn't even cover half the songs from Uprising. No Bad Card,

Blessings. I walked around the festival passing out free mix CDs of my band the FEED (7 piece ogranic SF hip-hop- 2 emcess, DJ, drums, keyboard/sax, violin, bass). It was a compilation CD of songs from 2 of our albums. I passed out close to 100 of them. I just wanted to check if anyone who checks this phorum got one, and if so what did you think? Word up Comanche-i. U definitely had some tricks up your sleeve. I danced hard. Some of those songs were really experimental sounding too towards the end of your set. maybe that was the next DJs set too. Either way, very fun part of the festival.

Yeah, I fell that too. I was saying to some of my friends that more rocksteady/ska would have been nice. Having a Sunday night dancehall is a good idea for people to go get that Sunday night energy out. Direct all the release into one place. We were looking for something at the campsite functions but nothing hit "that spot."

While Robbie and Sly were rockin, I cut out to the DanceHall- earlybird style. 8:30 ish I often like to cut to the chase and get there when it isnt very crowded and I can dance wherever I want and take up as much room as I like. There was a DJ there (dont remember his name) playing a really nice selection of tracks that quickly took me and the rest of the heads in there to the next level. Grea

This being my 8th SNWMF I have to say it was a good one. There were not too many "stand out" performances for me, the kind that a Beres Hammond, Luciano, Alpha, etc David Rodigan, Lucky Dube etc can take me too. M. Rose, J. Reid, Heptones, and many others were solid though. The weather was my personal favorite EVER. Breeezy yet warm which made the tone and mood of the festival ref

Another good point. Im definitely in the same light- one that like to hear the whole track, not the 30 second switch and "wheel up." Still I feel its a bit different when you've been listening to track, then dub of the track ALL night. Respect.

All year I wait for the SNWMF dancehall. I enjoyed Saturday's. Friday's was a disappointment. Can anyone tell me why the DJ found it necessary to play EVERY song twice in a row? You'd end up listening to the same tune for close to 10 minutes. Most of the tracks were relivitely deep and rootsy and not the "uplifting" type I look for at a dancehall. It killed all momentum for my group

Overall good times for sure. Question- What happened to the Sunday night dancehall? All that pre-hype about it. Lots of people peeing in those doors Sunday, waiting to go for theirs on the floor one last night. Definitely no cherry on top. Any one know? Post Edited (06-23-09 01:52)
