Israel Vibrations with Roots Radic

Here is a Jamaican story of threes: three youths find themselves at the Mona Rehabilitation Centre in Kingston, with three things staring them in the face: a love of singing, faith in Rastafari, and the challenge to overcome the crippling effects of Polio, which had afflicted them at a young age. Hitting with the the poignant "Same Song" in 1976, the group had established themselves as Israel Vibration. Consisting of Cecil "Skelly" Spence and Lascelle "Wiss" Bulgin, the Is Vibes, as they are known, have become synonymous with what is truly Roots reggae. With melodic, haunting, yet instantly recognizable voices, they are backed by one hard rhythm section, the very dread Roots Radics band. The Radics, noted for their work backing Gregory Isaacs, have also have laid the foundations for many a wicked dub track, and (in this writers opinion) are the last of the great Jamaican bands.
